Robert J. Straka, PharmD, FCCP

Professor and Department Head, Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, University of Minnesota

With more than 30 years of experience in academia, Dr. Straka’s interests lie in better understanding pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and pharmacogenomic sources of variability in drug response. With a particular focus on agents used for the treatment of cardiovascular and related diseases, he and his multidisciplinary colleagues have specifically pursued these variables in underserved special populations with the goal of optimizing the use of therapeutic agents for all individuals. With a translational research focus, his funded research investigations and collaborations exploring genomic-based sources of variability in drug response has led to publications ranging from the identification of novel variants in special populations to contributed authorship on CPIC guidelines.
